Oh, New York! Always a memorable trip! After my last day working at Williams-Sonoma on Friday, we flew out to spend Saturday-Tuesday in NYC visiting Andrew’s sister, Robin.
Sunday morning we woke up and went for a run in Central Park. I loved getting to join everyone on the trails to get our day started right in such a famous location!
Now let’s be real, running is great and all, but it also functions to make room for EATING. Next stop was Sarabeth’s in TriBeCa to meet up with Andrew and Robin’s cousins, Sara and Yury and their adorable baby girl, Parker. Sunday afternoon we braved a walk through Times Square and wandered through the toys at FAO Schwartz. After all that and a lot of walking in between, we were able to relax and brought some cold beers up to their cousin David’s rooftop, enjoying beautiful views and escaping the heat from below.
Monday we grabbed sandwiches at the Katz Delicatessen, which we were excited about but may have been the most unhealthy sandwich I’ve ever eaten. We felt awful for the rest of the day and I’m not sure I’ll ever eat pastrami again. Afterwards, we did the Hard Times tour at the Tenemant Museum, which is really interesting – I’d definitely recommend checking it out for a tour unlike anything I’ve seen offered elsewhere. Later that afternoon, we walked down to the U.S. District Courthouse to catch opening statements on a court case where Robin is a clerk for the presiding judge. I’ve never seen something like that before and it was entertaining to watch. Afterwards, while we were supposed to head to dinner with some of my friends, we had to take a detour to the Beth Israel ER due to Andrew having a minor concussion. He’s okay, thank goodness and the hospital staff were fantastic!
Now we’re on the bus on our way down to VA to spend the next week visiting family and friends. The FUNemployment continues, only about 10 days til we leave for Switzerland!
